現在到eBay金礦標本廠商的架上，看到定價多會手軟，價格實在真高，台幣10000元幾乎找不到滿意的標本，滿意的多為3,5萬元以上，但是對我而言特殊的還是要標標看。變貴的原因不外乎礦源枯竭的關係，架上商品許多是數十年挖的。
上漲之因素也促使假的標本有增多的趨勢，如果花大錢買假的會令人很痛心，因此我今天秀二件新標的Gold in Quartz，供大家參考，因為這型標本是大家比較能買到的，而且也是常被假冒的對象。

Several tiny speckles of gold with chalcopyrite and other sulfides. Last image shows a nice vug with a gold crystal inside.
Three were three major producers of gold specimens in the San Juan mountains of Colorado . The Sunnyside Mine at Eureka near Silverton in San Juan County , the Camp Bird Mine near Ouray in Ouray County and the Idarado Mine which spans Ouray and San Miguel counties. One entrance was on Red Mountain Pass between Ouray and Silverton, while the other entrance was near Telluride in San Miguel County . Most of the productive workings were nearer the Telluride entrance. All three localities produced rich ore samples with visible gold in white quartz, but the character of the ore samples is slightly different from the three localities. There will usually be some sulfide minerals like chalcopyrite and sphalerite in association, and the chalcopyrite is easy to confuse with gold if you’re not careful. Gold in open pockets was also found, but very rarely, therefore they are sought after by collectors.
The Sunnyside Mine was one of the most important gold producers in the San Juan Mountains and was the source of spectacular pink rhodochrosite crystals often associated with green fluorite. While chasing rich gold in the upper levels of the mine beneath Lake Emma , they got a bit too close and the lake drained into the mine, luckily on a Sunday when no one was mining. This would have been one of the biggest mine disasters in Colorado had the failure happened on a working shift.

Really attractive sponge gold on matrix.
Most wire gold samples from both Breckenridge and Leadville are actually spinel-twin crystals that have formed elongated wire-like crystals. "Sponge" gold is another distinctive habit seen mostly at Leadville. Many of these samples appear to be crystallized, but the crystal "faces" are actually casts of quartz crystals that have been etched away.
Leadville is typically thought of as a silver mining district, famous for Horace Tabor and the Matchless Mine among others, but there was a gold "belt" that encompassed the Ibex Mine and nearby mines not included in the Ibex group (the famous Little Jonny was the #1 shaft of the Ibex group) where miners extracted large quantities of gold after the original silver boom. The Ibex was by far the greatest producer of gold in the Leadville district and helped line the coffers of John Campion and JJ Brown ("unsinkable" Molly's husband) among other notables. Campion was also one of the more successful gold miners in Breckenridge with the Wapiti group. The famous Campion gold collection includes some of the finest gold samples ever found in Colorado and is still on display at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science

這是店家提供同系列標本中最小的，但也是野蠻貴的。對比強烈潔淨的 Gold in Quartz，受許多人喜愛，但是假冒者眾；白淨的石英倒入熔融的黃金即成，不過見過真的，就不會被騙。
